We are celebrating 10 Years and for first time we again officially reveal that Dilan has turned his attention to building & renovating his dream salon: an intimate space - both warm and chic - in Manchester finest Hotel. It will be a salon away from the manic demands and lifestyle of Manchester, experimentation will flourish and where clients will be treated as royalty.

For his minimalistic Manchester salon, Dilan chose a special space, nestled in a quiet part of Manchester's most fashionable hotel, the award-winning 5* Lowry Hotel which is ideally situated on the banks of the River Irwell in the recently-developed Chapel Wharf area on the Salford-Manchester boundary. The first five-star hotel in Greater Manchester, The Lowry Hotel makes a bold contemporary architectural statement with its dramatic, curved, glass-fronted façade that creates a light and airy feel within the hotel interior.

A two minute stroll from St.Anne Square next to Calatrava's landmark Trinity Bridge, The Lowry Hotel is perfectly located for easy access to central Manchester and the main shopping and commercial districts. The hotel is also within close distance to the Victoria railway station.

At the new withDilan Salon chic, cutting-edge design blends seamlessly with an attention to detail and a level of personalised hair services that ensures that his clients enjoy the high standards synonymous withDilan Manchester.

Historical background (Salon)

The salon first appeared in Italy in the 16th century, then flourished in France throughout the 17th and 18th centuries. It continued to flourish in Italy throughout the 19th century. In 16th-century Italy, some brilliant circles formed in the smaller courts which resembled salons, often galvanized by the presence of a beautiful and educated patroness such as Isabella d'Este or Elisabetta Gonzaga.

Salons were an important place for the exchange of ideas. The word salon first appeared in France in 1664 (from the Italian salone, the large reception hall of Italian mansions; salone.

A salon is a gathering of people held by a host. These gatherings often consciously followed Horace's definition of the aims of poetry, "either to please or to educate" (Latin: aut delectare aut prodesse). Salons in the tradition of the French literary and philosophical movements of the 17th and 18th centuries are still being carried on today.
